Tim Cone, Jong Uichico to serve as mentors in Hoop Coaches International webinar

Following the success of its first-ever coaching webinar over the weekend, Hoop Coaches International and Blackwater Elite will host another leg of their online seminar this week.

And it will be much bigger this time around, as it will be held from April 29 to May 2.

Headlining the webinar organized by current Blackwater alternate governor and consultant Ariel Vanguardia are two of Philippine basketball’s greatest minds in Tim Cone and Jong Uichico.

Cone, the most accomplished coach in the PBA with 22 championships, will talk on the last day of the webinar.

On the other hand, Uichico, currently the head of the SBP Coaches Commission who owns nine PBA titles, will discuss Positionless Basketball — The Legacy of Coach Ron Jacobs on April 29.

Vanguardia couldn’t feel elated enough not just by having both the multi-decorated bench strategists on board, but seeing the project receive such a positive feedback as well.

“I’m very happy. This is really a dream come true for me,” said ABL champion coach Vanguardia, who was inspired to host webinars locally as he has been attending webinars hosted by coaches in the US.

“I have been staying up late attending webinars in the US — nakakapagod, but it’s all fine. So I thought, why won’t I host one here? But look now, it has grown to six.”

Cone and Uichico will be joined by international coaches, such as Czech Republic national team head coach Ronen Ginzburg and Slovenia chief tactician Radovan Trifunovic.

New Zealand junior national team head coach Hernando Planells, Japan assistant coach Herman Mondale, and Serbia assistant coach Bogdan Karaicic will also take part in the sessions.

Completing the cast of speakers are Morehead State head coach Preston Spadlin and Diovanni Rivera, the director of basketball operations of Libertadores de Queretato in Mexico’s LNBP.

Set to be discussed in the upcoming four-day event are the strengthening of the athletes’ minds, scouting, advanced stats, the European game, and various offensive schemes.

Registration for these webinars remains free of charge, Vanguardia said, and the links for registration will soon be posted in Hoop Coaches International’s official Facebook page.

The webinars will also be streamed on YouTube Live via Zoom through Hoop Coaches International’s channel.
