Thompson cherishes opportunity to play in front of Ginebra crowd

Playing in front of a boisterous crowd is nothing new for Scottie Thompson, as his NCAA squad Perpetual Help always brings along its passionate fans inside the venue.

But having been selected by Barangay Ginebra as the fifth overall pick of the 2015 PBA Rookie Draft, the Altas guard says it would a totally different dimension to be playing in front of the Ginebra faithful.

“Sobrang blessed ko dahil Ginebra, number one yan sa crowd so ang sarap maglaro for Ginebra,” Thompson said.

The Gilas cadet got his first taste of what is in store for him in the pro ranks as he was quickly showered with love by the Ginebra fans inside the Robinsons Place Manila, cheering loudly for him and taking photos with the guard.

Thompson added before the draft, he only want to play for either his favorite team, Star, and his favorite coach, Tim Cone. Now a reality, he hopes to gel well with Cone’ system and learn from veterans like Mark Caguioa and Jayjay Helterbrand.

“Feeling ko madali akong makakafit sa system nila. Sa veterans pa lang sobrang blessed na dahil marami akong matutunan. Sana mabilis akong maka-adjust sa system nila,” he shared.

Thompson knows the adjustment wouldn’t be a breeze, but he knows his team will not let him down and help him learn the ropes.

“Yung team ng Ginebra alam nating never say die so hindi nila ako pababayaan at alam kong iga-guide nila ako,” he said.
