Things heat up between Mercado, Dunigan but players kiss and make up

At one stretch during the game between Barako Bull and Barangay Ginebra, Energy guard Sol Mercado and Gin Kings import Michael Dunigan engaged in a heated verbal tussle.

The incident was a spillover from what happened in the previous play when Dunigan elbowed rookie Jake Pascual of Barako Bull- who was defending the import- right in the jaw.

Pascual was left sprawling on the floor brought about by the hit, but as if that wasn’t enough, the import kicked the Barako Bull forward. Mercado then quickly came to the rescue of his fallen teammate and pushed Dunigan as the two engaged in a shouting match.

Mercado and Dunigan are friends and they acknowledged each other on Twitter.

“Apologize To Local Jak Bascual For Kicking Him While He Was On The Ground…. Not Apologizing About The Elbow He Knows Why It Happened…,” tweeted Dunigan.

Mercado teased Dunigan by replying: “@TeamDunDun lol no apology to me?.”

“@M3rcMyWords You Know We Kool Squashed It In The Game… You Still The Homie…” replied Dunigan.

Mercado’s Barako Bull team outlasted Barangay Ginebra for its second straight win and a share of the lead with Meralco and Talk ‘N Text.

The Gin Kings suffered their second straight setback to remain winless in the tournament.
