Terrence Romeo is truly glad to wear a Pilipinas jersey once more when he attended Gilas 3×3’s practice for the 30th Southeast Asian Games, Monday night at the Meralco Gym in Pasig.
The San Miguel guard was in Philippine colors for the first time since the infamous brawl between Gilas and Australia in the third window of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers in July last year.
“Excited, mabibigyan ng chance na makapag-tryout ulit at makapagsuot ulit ng Pilipinas jersey.”
Romeo now has another chance to represent the country, as he is part of the 12-man talent pool for the 3×3 event of the regional biennial meet happening from November 30-December 11.
The veteran internationalist is no stranger to the three-a-side basketball. He previously played in the FIBA 3×3 World Tour Masters in 2014 and 2015 while representing team Manila West.
But that was years ago, and some rules have changed. So for Romeo, he plans to learn all the new guidelines.
“Ang tagal ko na rin hindi nakapaglaro so kailangan kong pag-aralan,” he said.
“May mga bagong rules ata yung 3×3.”
The Far Eastern University product feels honored to have been invited to the pool. But of course, there’s still that hope that one day, he could be asked to join the 5-on-5 team once again.
“Oo naman. Oo naman. Bata pa naman tayo. So kailangan lang natin paghandaan, mag-ready.”
