Terrence Romeo probably owns a gallery inside his home displaying all of the individual accolades he’s won through the years of playing basketball at different levels. However, when the time comes, and he has to leave home, taking only a few things with him, he’d probably be okay with leaving all of those trophies behind.
After all, he only cares about winning.
What drives him to play at a phenomenal level is how a basketball championship has been so elusive for the Globalport Batang Pier guard through the years.
“Masaya. Okay lang, pero hindi importante kung makukuha mo ang BPC pero hindi naman mapupunta yung team mo sa semis,” Romeo said, brushing off talks that he is in the Best Player of the Conference conversation. Importante manalo kami.”
Sometimes mistaken for being a ball hog or dominating possession too much, Romeo says he is doing it all to help his team win.
Romeo is averaging 23.9 PPG, 3.9 RPG, and 3.3 APG in the conference, and against Kia on Sunday, he scored 27 points, dished out 6 assists, and was a plus-10 in what he believes as the most important game of the Batang Pier.
Ito ang kailangan naming ipanalo,” he said.
Romeo knows, however, the marathon has only began, and more work is needed to achieve the ultimate goal of making it to the semi-finals.
It is a sign na nagma-mature ang team.”
