Terrafirma head coach Johnedel Cardel is keeping his fingers crossed after Kevin Ferrer suffered what appeared to be an Achilles injury in the Dyip’s 104-92 victory over TNT in the PBA On Tour on Wednesday night.
Ferrer went down with 14 seconds left in the second quarter and had to be stretchered out of the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City. He was sent to Cardinal Santos for testing.
“Sana hindi naman serious ‘no? Pero may pumitik daw sa Achilles niya kaya medyo delikado. Sayang ang ganda pa naman ng laro niya kanina,” said Cardel.
Cardel bared that Ferrer was already playing hurt after suffering a sprain in their game against Converge last May 26.
“Galing from injury siya nung sprain nung last game… nung practice namin kaya hindi siya nag-laro nung Blackwater. Malaking bagay na nawala siya,” he added.
The 6-foot-5 forward played 19 minutes and finished with seven points on 3-of-8 shooting from the field. He also had four rebounds and two assists.
Despite losing Ferrer in the first half, Terrafirma still managed to get things done. It scored 42 points in the third quarter, giving them an 80-67 advantage entering the final quarter.
The Dyip sealed the victory by starting the fourth frame with a red-hot 14-0 run led by Gelo Alolino, Isaac Go, Andreas Cahilig, and Ed Daquioag.
Juami Tiongson led TerraFirma with 21 points, while Daquioag and Go contributed 16 and 15 points, respectively.
