Tero, Lee mum on DLSU-UST scuffle

The latest match between the De La Salle University Green Archers and the University of Santo Tomas Growling Tigers in the 2017 FilOil Flying V Premier Cup was rather eventful despite the score line of 109-81.

UST senior Marvin Lee has been at the receiving end of frequent trash talking from the La Salle side, and the Thomasian guard has never backed down.

Head coach Aldin Ayo had already told the referees to keep an eye on the events and to try to take control. “Sabi ko sa refs, bantayan niyo yan. Kung hindi niyo mako-control yan, baka magkasapakan yan,” the two-time collegiate champion coach said.

True enough, even as the reigning champions were way ahead with seconds left in the game at 109-81, the inevitable broke out.

Lee tried to advance the ball, guarded by St. Clare College transferee Ramil Tero. Taking contact, the rookie punched the senior guard.

Nine players were ejected, as Tero, Ricci Rivero, Gabe Capacio, and Darryl Santillan for La Salle. Lee, Carlo Escalambre, Christian Garcia, Jordan Sta. Ana, Jeepy Faundo, Huang, Oliver De Guzman, and Nico Cano were sent out from UST.

Tero and Lee refused to comment on the incident.
