32nd SEA Games

Team Pilipinas to compete in all 32nd SEAG events

Philippine athletes are gearing up to compete in the 32nd Southeast Asian Games hosted by Cambodia from May 5 to 17. With a total of 1,233 members, including 905 athletes and 257 officials, Team Pilipinas is set to showcase their fighting spirit in all sports.

During the General Assembly at the East Ocean Garden Restaurant in Pasay City, Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Rep. Abraham “Bambol” Tolentino announced the team’s lineup.

“I’m confident these are all fighting athletes,” Tolentino said. “They will be competing in all the events despite the odds.”

Cambodia has prepared a 608-event, 38-sport program for the Games, including unique rules for combat sports. Unlike the host nation, other countries cannot field full teams in certain events. However, Filipino athletes will participate in all sports in Cambodia.

Team Pilipinas’ representation in Cambodia surpasses the 656 athletes who competed in the 31st SEA Games in 2021, where the country finished fourth with 226 medals.

The upcoming team also resembles the 2019 Philippine hosting, where 1,119 Filipino athletes competed in 56 sports.

The POC has scheduled a formal sendoff ceremony for Team Pilipinas on April 15 at the Philippine International Convention Center.
