Tankoua frustrated after first game back with San Beda

It had been 320 days since Donald Tankoua played in a competitive basketball setting. Though he posted steady numbers in his first game back, the 22-year-old was frustrated, as he could not give his team the same energy he had given a season ago.

“It wasn’t good,” remarked Tankoua, who had 10 points and eight rebounds in just 16 minute of action in San Beda’s 76-67 win over San Sebastian.

“I was frustrated because of the game and because it’s been a long time that I didn’t play”

Before tearing the ACL on his right knee last August 20, the Cameroonian student-athlete was posting norms of 15.7 points on 57.8 percent shooting from the field, 10.6 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks per outing. But even up to this day, he is still in therapy to bring back his old form.

“I did a lot of practices with my therapist, did therapy, and I’m still in therapy right now,” recalled last season’s Mythical Team member.

This time around, with Arnaud Noah, Ben Adamos, Kemark Carino, and JB Bahio in the fold, Tankoua can take his time with his recovery. Still, he is continuing to work and regain the dominant form he was playing before he went down.

“I hope I can get back feeling better.”
