Just days after being discharged from the hospital, Tab Baldwin was back on the sidelines for Ateneo during the Final Four match-ups of the 2019 PCCL National Championship, Saturday.
However, the 61-year-old tactician decided to take a step back, handing coaching duties to assistant Gabby Severino during the Blue Eagles’ 95-63 trouncing of University of Visayas.
Baldwin was discharged from Cardinal Santos in San Juan City mid-last week. He immediately joined the Blue Eagles’ practices on Friday, according to some of the student-athletes of Ateneo.
Baldwin was confined due to overfatigue. Besides his Ateneo stint, he is also the Gilas Pilipinas Men program director and an assistant coach in TNT.
Just like everyone else, Severino was just glad that Baldwin was back with the team.
“Coach went to the hospital, and we stepped in and did our jobs. Tuloy-tuloy ang buhay namin,” said Severino.
For his part, Baldwin refused to be interviewed, only saying that “he will be better than ever”.
