T1’s Kaohsiung inquires about Ricci Rivero

Will Ricci Rivero play in new Taiwanese league T1?

Reports from Taiwan have bared that T1 team Kaohsiung Poseidon looks to tap Ricci Rivero as their Asian import.

“According to sources closely monitoring the situation, the player Kaosiung is currently actively recruiting is Ricci Rivero.

“He is a very high-profile player in the the Philippines,” the report of Basketball Top 5 read.

T1 is a new professional league in Taiwan handled by former NBA Taiwan general manager Guan Guangzhong.

Kaohsiung is one of four teams that have already committed to the league. Teams from Taichung, Taipei, and New Taipei have also joined the league, which formed last May.

Unlike PLEAGUE+, T1 will also have an Asian Player Quota.

Rivero has left a lasting impression on Taiwanese fans.

Back in 2017, he was part of the La Salle team that swept the Buddha’s Light International Association Cup. Rivero was named as the Most Excellent Player of the tournament.

If Rivero decides to accept the offer, he will have to forgo his final year at University of the Philippines since T1 is a pro league.

Back in UAAP Season 82, the 6-foot-1 guard averaged 7.75 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.75 assists per game.
