T1: Brickman’s Kaohsiung spoils Gavina’s Taichung debut

Chris Gavina did not have the coaching debut that he wanted in the 2022-23 T1 League season as his Taichung fell to Kaohsiung Familymart, 79-99, Saturday at Taiwan Sports University Gymnasium.

Gavina’s squad shot poorly against the defending champs, going just 44-percent from the field — including 7-of-23 from the deep.

The Suns also allowed the Aquas to convert on 14 treys.

Jason Brickman orchestrated the Kaohsiung attack, dishing 11 assists to go with his eight points and five rebounds.

Hu Longmao led the way with 27 points with seven rebounds, five assists, and three steals while Yu Huanya got 18 points, five rebounds, and five assists. Lin Jenhong also chipped in 17 points.

Mindaugas Kupsas did not need to do much heavy lifting in the game that secured Kaohsiung’s first win in two games, tallying 14 points, eight rebounds, and a block.

Leading Taichung was Tony Bishop with 22 points and nine rebounds while Diamond Stone scored 13 points. Aaron Geramipoor had 11 points and eight rebounds as well.
