SLA: Kidd Estalilla, Cyle Perez lead Luid past Hustle

Kidd Estalilla and Cyle Perez each scored 17 points as Luid One Kapampangan overcame Hustle with a 94-87 victory last Wednesday night, securing their second consecutive win in the Sinag Liga Asya Born 2001 Cup held at the One Arena in Cainta.

Backing up Estalilla and Perez, CJ Buitison contributed 15 points and eight rebounds. Meanwhile, Darell Garcia achieved a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds for Luid One Kapampangan.

The team entered this game after a 73-70 victory over LDG San Pedro last Saturday in the inaugural tournament presented by Converge and supported by Foton, JProject, Royce Hotel, Sunsport, Bluesky Advertising, Finn Cotton, WCube Solutions, and SCD.

Ernie Pineda led the Rising Suns with 23 points and four rebounds, but their efforts fell short of preventing their second consecutive loss. They previously faced a 63-70 defeat against Datzlav Eoz Construction Laguna also last Saturday.

In other matchups, the newly participating ParaƱaque Pelicans dominated the NBS Slashers with a 97-85 win.

On the other hand, LDG San Pedro claimed their first victory with an 83-78 triumph over Datzlav Eoz Construction Laguna.

Rongel John Guerrero shone with 24 points for the Pelicans, receiving support from Christopher Garcia Jr. with 20 points; Angelo Obuye with 14 points; and Geofrey Santos with 12 points.

The tournament will feature a single-round elimination format. The top eight teams will advance to the quarterfinals with a twice-to-beat advantage against the lower-ranked teams.

The semifinals and finals will both be one-game contests.
