Eyes will now be on Sista if it could remain perfect when the PBA 3×3 returns with its fourth leg on Saturday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
The Super Sealers won all of their six games en route to ruling Leg 3, successfully completing their journey to the mountaintop after going winless in the maiden leg and bowing out of the quarterfinals in the following stop in this FIBA 3×3 level five tournament.
For sure, the quartet of Prince Rivero, Leo De Vera, RJ Argamino, and Kenneth Mocon would want to repeat as champions. But that would be easier said than done, as they got clustered in the stacked, five-team Pool A.
The Rain or Shine franchise will have its hands full as they are grouped with Platinum Karaoke, Limitless App, CAVITEX, and Zamboanga.
Sista is once again set to collide with the veteran-laden Platinum, whom it stunned 22-19 to begin its unbeaten run in the third leg.
Then there’s also the Appmasters, who are surely bent on exacting revenge after losing to the Super Sealers in the Leg 3 quarterfinals.
Sista will begin Leg 4 hostilities versus the Braves at 2:00 p.m., another foe they’re familiar with as they previously met in the second leg.
Meanwhile, Leg 3 runners-up Pioneer Pro Tibay is grouped in Pool B together with Meralco, Barangay Ginebra, and San Miguel Beer.
The guest team will garner more attention this time after a stellar run in the last leg, where they emerged as a favorite in the halfcourt competitions given their rise — from forfeiting games in the first leg to becoming finalists.
Pioneer will open Pool B play at 2:50 p.m. against SMB, who went winless in the previous leg (0-3) as it suffered heartbreaking losses.
Pool C, lastly, is headed by the motivated Terrafirma, who finished third in the previous leg in a campaign dedicated to Roider Cabrera.
The Dyip are grouped with Purefoods, whom they beat in the battle for third to take home PHP 30,000 — earnings they donated to their ailing teammate.
Also in the pool are TNT — who lost star Jeremiah Gray to an ACL injury — and NorthPort, who failed to reach the playoffs again in Leg 3.
Terrafirma will begin the pool’s action against the gutsy Batang Pier at 3:15 p.m. in a day filled with a total of 16 matches.
