Farm Fresh was on the verge of being swept by Choco Mucho, but thanks to Trisha Tubu, they managed to force a fifth set.
While the Foxies ultimately fell short in their attempt at a reverse sweep, losing 20-25, 21-25, 25-21, 27-25, 12-15, Tubu delivered an exceptional performance in the defeat.
The 5-foot-9 opposite spiker exploded for 31 points, including 28 attacks, two blocks, and a service ace, earning praise from Choco Mucho’s star player, Sisi Rondina.
“Sina-side eye ko na talaga siya kanina,” Rondina joked about Tubu.
“Sobrang galing nung bata talaga. Sabi ko nga ang dami pang kayang gawin and marami pa talaga siyang maipapakita, Kng ano yung naproduce niya this game namin kaya pa niyang higitan,” Rondina continued, her tone becoming more serious.
“Hands down ako sa kanya kasi kinaya niya and sobrang tapang, at tumatapang pa.”
Tubu had been on the rise for the Foxies during their two wins in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference, which earned her the PVL Press Corps Player of the Week honor for the last week of November.
This loss dropped them to 2-3 as they entered the holiday break, but according to Tubu, head coach Benson Bocboc was still pleased with their performance, especially their comeback from being two sets down.
Rondina was not to be outdone, finishing with 26 points and a stellar defensive effort, registering 13 excellent receptions and 13 digs.
Tubu expressed her gratitude for Rondina’s praise and shared how difficult it was to face the University of Santo Tomas legend.
“Sobrang saya po, siyempre, galing kay ate Sisi, alam naman po natin kung ano yung caliber niya talaga as wing spiker,” Tubu said.
“Masaya po, pero yun nga, ang hirap din niyang depensahan. Actually, isa po siya sa mga inaral namin kung paano siya ma-stop, pero hindi po namin siya napigilan, kaya ayun po, masaya na nakaharap ko po siya uli.”
