After a strong start to their campaign, the Generika-Ayala Lifesavers have fallen under a dry spell to start the second round.
The Lifesavers have yet to win a single match in the second round after suffering back-to-back losses to Petron and Foton, respectively. Moreover, they went from third seed by the end of the first round down to fourth place within a span of five days.
“Siyempre medyo pangit ‘yung pagkatalo namin kasi bumaba ‘yung standing namin,” said Generika-Ayala head coach Sherwin Meneses moments after his team lost to the Santiago siblings-led Foton last Saturday.
Still, even if they got themselves in a rough patch and their record dropping to 5-4, Meneses isn’t pushing the panic button right away.
“Sabi nga namin as a team na medyo mahaba talaga ‘yung season so pinakaimportante ‘yung mga remaining games namin,” he said. “Ganun talaga, may natatalo, may nananalo.
“Back to gym lang kami to recover.”
Meneses also assured that with a relatively better position unlike in the previous conferences, the Lifesavers are still in high spirits.
“Yung strong start natin gamitin natin kasi before na mga conferences namin, medyo nasa baba kaagad [kami],” he said.
“Sa ngayon, nasa taas pa naman kaya mataas pa naman ‘yung morale [ng team.]”
