Seven Asia Cup players attend Sunday practice

With just nine days left before the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup begins, Gilas Pilipinas has yet to hold a practice that has a complete attendance from the 12 players that are lined up for the tournament.

Gabe Norwood, Jayson Castro, June Mar Fajardo, Raymond Almazan, Christian Standhardinger, and Carl Cruz were present at the Upper Deck Gym on a windy Sunday evening.

Five players from the team set to compete in the continental meet were absent. Japeth Aguilar, Terrence Romeo, and Matthew Wright were excused as their mother teams had games today. However, Calvin Abueva has yet to report for the team since it opened offices last Thursday.

The Asia Cup will tip off on August 8 in Lebanon.

For the SEA Games squad, eight players actively participated in Sunday’s drills, namely Bobby Ray Parks, Jr., Kiefer Ravena, Raymar Jose, Mike Tolomia, Kobe Paras, Von Pessumal, Ed Daquioag, and Almond Vosotros. Stand-by player Mac Belo was also in attendance.

Yet to attend is Troy Rosario, while Baser Amer was absent.

The SEA Games will begin on August 20 in Malaysia.
