Serbia fielded what most likely will be their 12 players in the 2021 Acropolis Cup, a tournament which it swept 3-0, Monday (Manila time) at the O.A.C.A. Olympic Hall in Marousi, Athens.
During the four-nation meet, Serbia romped Puerto Rico, 80-68; routed Mexico, 104-67; and defeated host Greece, 75-64.
In all three games they played in, coach Igor Kokoškov fielded the same 12 players.
Headlining the team were NBA pros Boban Marjanovic and Nemenja Bjelica.
Also in are Euroleague vets Filip Petrusev, Vanja Marinkovic, Dragan Milosavljevic, Branko Lazic, Stefan Jovic, Dejan Davidovac, Aleksa Avramovic, Aleksa Avramovic, Ognjen Dobric, Danilo Andjusic, and Ilic Dalibor.
Petrusev, a 6-foot-11 big man who is only 21 years old, led the Serbians with an average of 18.3 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game.
Six-foot-seven swingman Dobric, who plays for Crvena zvezda, normed 16.7 markers while the 7-foot-4 Marjanovic averaged 11.7 markers. Bjelica led the team in rebounding at 9.0 boards per game.
Marinkovic and Dalibor were cut by the team after the tournament.
From the 2019 World Cup team that handed Gilas a 126-67 loss, only Marjanovic, Bjelica, and Jovic played in the tournament.
Vasilije Micic, Milos Teodosic, Vladimir Lucic, and Nikola Kalinić remain committed to the team.
The two nations meet each other on June 30 in Belgrade.
