Annie Ramirez continued her legacy by winning her third consecutive gold medal in the women’s minus-55 ne-waza no-gi category at the 32nd Southeast Asian Games ju-jitsu competitions held at the Chroy Changvar Convention Center Hall B in Phnom Penh, Cambodia.
Ramirez swept the pool and dominated her opponents, beginning with a decisive 50-0 victory over hometown favorite Mab Sokhouy.
She then narrowly defeated Thailand’s Orapa Senatham 2-0 before securing another impressive 50-0 win against Vietnam’s Thi Thuong Le.
This is the second gold medal that jiujitsu has given the Philippines at the Games, with Kaila Napolis winning the women’s ne-waza gi minus-52 division.
Ramirez’s victory brought the Philippines’ total gold medals to six in the competition.
