Schedule out for Gilas-Korea showdown in Qatar

The much-anticipated showdown between arch-rivals Gilas Pilipinas and South Korea will take place on primetime.

In the schedule released by FIBA Asia for the Qatar window of the Qualifiers, the Philippines-Korea games on February 18 and 22 are scheduled to take place at 10:00PM (Manila time).

On the other hand, Gilas’ February 19 tilt versus Indonesia will have a tip-off time of 4:00PM.

Gilas have yet to beat Korea since the 2013 FIBA Asia Cup.

The Philippines lost to South Korea in the 2014 Asian Games, 95-97, and in the 2018 edition of the continental meet, 82-91.

During the quarterfinals of the 2017 FIBA Asia Cup, the Philippines bowed to Korea anew, 86-118.

Gilas also lost both of their meetings with the Koreans during the 2015 and 2017 Jones Cups.

In other Group A games, Korea faces Thailand on the 19th at 8:30PM; Thailand squares off against Korea on the 20th at 7:00PM; and Indonesia takes on Thailand on the 22nd at 1:00AM (23rd in Manila).

Gilas sit on top of the group with a perfect 3-0 slate.
