SBP: UP firepower too much for San Beda in 37-point beatdown

University of the Philippines handed San Beda University a 37-point beating, taking home a lopsided 99-62 win in the SPB Invitational Games, Wednesday night at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The Fighting Maroons took the fight out of the Red Lions as early as the first half, mounting a 27-point advantage behind the hot hands of CJ Cansino.

UP then completed the kill late in the fourth, expanding its advantage to 42 big points, 95-53, after a Reyland Torres three-point play with 3:01 remaining.

“It was very beneficial especially sa mga young players namin kasi playing in Araneta is parang very close to the UAAP [experience] so it’s a very, very good experience for them,” said UP head coach Goldwin Monteverde.
