Sarah Dequinan is 2019 SEA Games’ greatest female athlete

CAPAS, TARLAC — After 18 years, the greatest female athlete in the Southeast Asian Games belongs to the Philippines.

Sarah Dequinan took down the heptathlon event of the 30th Southeast Asian Games, Sunday at the NCC Athletics Center.

The 23-year-old product of University of Santo Tomas became the first Filipina to win the event since Elma Muros won it in 2011.

“Wala po akong masabi. Super amazing lang po ‘yung nangyari. Para siyang panaginip,” said the Mindanaoan.

Dequinan topped the seven-discipline event with 5,101 points.

Malaysia’s Kamaruddin Norliyana won silver with 4,909 points. Thailand’s Sunisa Khotseemueang then took home bronze.
