For the second straight season, the PBA will take the All-Star festivities to three major cities in the country. The week-long celebration of the brightest stars in Philippine basketball starts off tour in Batangas on May 23 and caps the event in Davao on May 27.
And everyone wants to join the celebration, including Davao native Bong Go — the current Special Assistant to the President.
Go, 43, was the special guest of the PBA on Sunday evening during Game 2 of the series between the San Miguel Beermen and the Barangay Ginebra San Miguel.
During the third quarter of the contest, Go made his way in the press room of the SMART-Araneta Coliseum to say that he will take part in the festivities, as he will join the three-point shootout.
According to Commissioner Willie Marcial, Go will take on PBA legend Allan Caidic and Chris Tiu in the competition. But Go wants to go big, asking Marcial to include legend Atoy Co and defending three-point champion Terrence Romeo to the mix as well.
Admittedly, Go shared that he is a huge basketball fan, even showing off a video of him knocking down 17 three-pointers during a game.
This is not the first time politicians joined the All-Star events. A year ago, Mayors Emmanuel Mugot, Oscar Moreno, Jr., and Ed Ayunting took part in the Shooting Stars Challenge.
Asked if there will be a cash prize for the winner, Go said that a trophy will be enough.
