San Sebastian College-Recoletos carved out its second win in the NCAA Season 95 Women’s Volleyball Tournament after dispatching Lyceum of the Philippines University, 25-20, 25-18, 20-25, 25-16, Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
The Lady Stags displayed composure while shrugging off a third-set hiccup. They then put the match under wraps in the fourth to keep the Lady Pirates at bay. With the win, they remain seated in solo eighth with a 2-6 card.
“Pinaghandaan po talaga namin ‘yung Lyceum. Inaral po namin ‘yung laro nila, kung saan ba ‘yung pinapalo nila,” said San Sebastian libero Jewelle Bermillo, who collected 16 digs and 14 receptions.
“Ang goal po talaga namin ay bawas po kami sa service-receive kasi noong third set, puro service error po talaga kami. Kaya sabi namin noong fourth set na dapat less error na kami kasi doon sila nakakapuntos sa amin,” she added.
Shane Requierme and Reyann Canete spearheaded the Lady Stags’ offensive charge, unfurling 14 points each. Amaka Tan and Veronica Carreon then delivered 12 markers apiece to make their presence felt in the match that lasted for ninety-four minutes.
Lyceum, on the other hand, dropped to 3-5, still in seventh place.
Monica Jane Sevilla churned out a game-high output of 15 points that went down the drain. Meanwhile, Alexa Rafael and Ciarnelle Wanta had 11 and 10 markers, respectively, in a losing cause.
Lyceum and San Sebastian eye to end their campaign on a high note. They will face San Beda and Letran on Friday, February 14, and Monday, February 17, respectively. Both matches will be held at the same venue.
