San Miguel has brought in another import for its PBA Season 49 Commissioner’s Cup campaign.
Already with reinforcement no. 3 entering their sixth game of the conference, the Beermen are rolling with Jabari Narcis in their rematch against guest team Hong Kong Eastern set this Sunday at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.
Listed at 6-foot-9, the center from Trinidad and Tobago is taking the place of Torren Jones, who’s played a major role in their two-game winning streak with solid averages of 26.5 points and 13.5 rebounds.
SMB has yet to respond to Tiebreaker Times’ queries but the apparent reason behind the switch was the nasal trauma he suffered after being elbowed by Chris McLaughlin during their East Asia Super League game last Wednesday.
Jones was left bloodied and San Miguel went on to lose that bout by way of a 71-62 decision, remaining as the lone winless team in Group A at 0-3.
The 6-foot-9 forward, though, was still one of the team’s top-scorers in that match with 19 points on a 47-percent clip from the field and 11 rebounds.
It remains to be seen if Jones and Narcis would become the Beermen’s imports for their EASL campaign after Quincy Miller only had five points versus Eastern.
For now, though, San Miguel’s attention would solely be on Sunday’s game, where it is gunning not only for payback but to stretch its winning streak to three in the conference as well. The team is currently toting a 3-2 record.
