San Miguel-Rain or Shine Game 1 Additional Quotes
The San Miguel Beermen fought back from 24 points down to stun the Rain or Shine Elasto Painters in Game 1 of their PBA Governors’ Cup semi-final Thursday night.
Alex Cabagnot anchored the offense for the Beermen, scoring 15 points and dishing out 8 assists in the win. Paul Lee was impressive in the first half, schooling his defenders with out-of-this-world one on one skills and finished with 19 points overall.
It was interesting to note however that Lee sat down for a long period while San Miguel was on a zone. That was when the Beermen made the run as the Elasto Painters struggled from downtown. Lee may have helped the Painters dodge the Beermen rally with his ability to attack and create, but nevertheless, he respects the decision of coach Yeng Guiao.
Here are some players’ quotes from last night:
Paul Lee
On not being on the floor for a certain stretch in the second half: “Ganun talaga.
On whether fatigue is a factor: “Our season’s been longer than the NBA season so we are definitely in a position where we just try to find energy and pockets of intensity but I don’t think the series against Meralco has the overall factor on our game.”
On what changed in the second half: “The intensity of the game has to increase from first to second half, from Game 1 to Game 2. It’s not like a plateau. You have to pick it up and I hope God’s will shines upon our team again.”
