San Miguel is only waiting for the doctors’ go-signal before welcoming back June Mar Fajardo in the ongoing PBA Season 48 Commissioner’s Cup.
Coach Jorge Gallent said that the seven-time MVP could play in their final game of the eliminations versus Blackwater on January 12 should he be cleared.
“If the doctors give him the go-signal, I think he can play in our last game against Blackwater,” the seasoned bench tactician said.
Gallent said as much shortly after the Beermen’s 132-110 victory over the also-ran Terrafirma on Sunday at the SMART Araneta Coliseum – their sixth consecutive game without the 6-foot-10 slotman’s services.
Fajardo has been on the sidelines since suffering a hand fracture during their match against Rain or Shine last November 29 also at the Big Dome.
But he may be back in action soon, especially after San Miguel elevated its main man from the injury/reserve list to the active roster just last Friday.
The Cebuano star was in full uniform against the Dyip on Sunday, although he did not play in the game that saw Bennie Boatwright erupt for 51 points to help the perennial contenders bolster their hopes of a top-four finish.
Winners of four straight, SMB would definitely love to have him back ahead of the playoffs. But then again, it depends on what the doctors would say.
“June Mar is doing well. He’s recovering well,” shared Gallent. “We’ll see what the doctors will say about June Mar.”
