San Beda to parade Dan Villejo, JV Gallego for NCAA 97

San Beda will have a boatload of guards to fill the shoes left by Evan Nelle for the NCAA Season 97 Seniors Basketball Tournament.

Fil-Hawaiian guard Dan Villejo and former NU Bulldog JV Gallego will make their Red Lions debuts this season.

Villejo, who traces his roots from Davao, previously played for Northeastern Junior College.

During his sophomore year back in 2018, the 6-foot-2 guard averaged 5.0 points on 43.1-percent shooting from deep with 3.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists.

Gallego, meanwhile, averaged 7.2 points on 40-percent shooting from deep, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.7 assists in UAAP Season 82.

The two will make a dangerous combination with James Canlas, who could be in his last playing year for San Beda.

Rookies Rhayyan Amsali, Yukian Andrada, Tony Ynot, and Justine Sanchez will also make their debuts along with former FEU big Clifford Jopia.

Completing the lineup are holdovers Franz Abuda, Peter Alfaro, Damie Cuntapay, JB Bahio, Gabriel Cometa, Ralph Penuela, and Alex Visser.

Surprisingly, Jacob Cortez is in the reserve slot. Also in as reserves are Emmanuel Tagle and Resty Fornis.

San Beda will open its NCAA campaign on Saturday against Lyceum.
