Assessment:
I once heard, that Ola Adeogun wasn’t imposing.What’s our definition of imposing anyways 16.1ppg and 11.5rpg ain’t imposing? Or are we judging that 9 and 9 he posted in his first year with a super-loaded team? There’s no one who can smack the paint like Ola does, and he did not have to do heavy lifting until last year.

Art Dela Cruz is also back to torture defenses (12.6ppg) if they decide to collapse on Ola. He can rebound as good as anyone I’ve seen (9.4rpg) and stretch defenses out to 20-feet. Baser Amer, the nations best pure point guard suffered through a down year as he could only muster 11.6ppg to go along with his 4.3apg that was made worse by at least 3 turnovers. Have I mentioned that he shot an abysmal 35% from the floor?
Nonetheless, in one of Coach Jarin’s post game talks, he told us that Baser Amer is the best point guard he has ever coached. “I am fortunate to have coached Kiefer [Ravena] in high school and to coach Baser [Amer] in his last year. Kiefer is the best shooting guard in the game today while Baser is the best point guard,” the multi-titled high school coach said. “They have bright futures ahead of them in the pros.”

The Red Lions have to shoot the three better than they did last season (25%) AFTER losing their main marksman in Anthony Semerad to the pros. They’re also thinner up front because of the departure of David Semerad and Kyle Pascual. And man, Dan Sara has never been the same since he went to Taft.

“Ang nakakatawa kasi there was a video being shown. Ang mga player namin pa lay-up, lay-up lang and dribble-dribble pero yung players from Perpetual and Lyceum they were dunking on everybody tapos sabi nila kami malakas. Dun sa video pa lang napakalakas na ng mga players nila. Sabi nga nila, this is not a San Beda-league, this is the NCAA. San Beda is fortunate to win five straight but with the coaches right now, you have nine great coaches right here. Anything is possible, every game is a war. Whoever comes in prepared because sabi nga nila ‘the harder you work, the luckier you get.’ All of the coaches here are hard working and, hopefully, we work harder than them and be luckier than them. Sabi nga ng other coaches, ‘sana matsambahan din namin sila.’”
