Roider Cabrera’s experience in the halfcourt game will come in handy as he banners Terrafirma in the inaugural PBA 3×3 wars.
The 6-foot-2 stretch forward will spearhead a crew that also features former Blackwater wing Matt Salem and former Northport forward Jebb Bulawan; and the Dyip’s selections in the virtual 2021 Rookie Draft last March.
Cabrera, 31, previously played for Petra Cement-Roxas City Rockies in the 2020 Chooks-to-Go Pilipinas 3×3 President’s Cup in Calamba, Laguna. He made a mark there by winning a Two-Point Shootout title.
The Adamson University product played for a few years in the PBA. An undrafted player in 2014, Cabrera was able to sign with the GlobalPort Batang Pier. He later transferred to Terrafirma, where he would play until 2019.
He drifted into the minors before finding himself in the 3×3 scene. Now, he continues to play in the emerging discipline with the new league.
Aside from Cabrera, Bulawan, and Salem, Dyip 3×3 also has Dhon Reverente, Jay Javelosa, and Emman Custodio. The three were Terrafirma’s draftees after top pick Joshua Munzon and James Laput.
Surprisingly or not, Munzon, the country’s top 3×3 player, is not part of Terrafirma 3×3.
PBA 3×3 could begin a month after the 5-on-5, according to the league. The PBA is looking to start Season 46 either late June or early July.
