“FEU Tamaraws 🔰 representing Gilas,” his post read.
Pogoy has been on Cone’s radar to be part of the Gilas pool during the 2023 Asian Games. However, the 6-foot-2 swingman had to beg off due to a heart condition.
Pogoy went on to play in the 2024 PBA Philippine Cup, playing 13 games for TNT and averaging 20.4 points, 4.3 rebounds, and 2.1 assists per game.
He last played for Gilas during the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
If allowed, Pogoy will replace Scottie Thompson in the lineup as the latter is still nursing a back injury.
Also in the bubble are Justin Brownlee, Dwight Ramos, Kai Sotto, Carl Tamayo, Kevin Quiambao, June Mar Fajardo, Chris Newsome, CJ Perez, Calvin Oftana, Japeth Aguilar, and Mason Amos.
Gilas is slotted with Georgia and Latvia in the Riga OQT that takes place from July 2 to 7.
