RJ Paler, FEU Tamaraws gun down UE for fifth straight win

Coming off one of their tightest wins of the season last weekend, the Far Eastern University Tamaraws maintained their perfect start to UAAP Season 81, cruising past the University of the East Red Warriors, 25-10, 25-21, 25-18, at the FilOil Flying V Centre.

The Tamaraws were efficient in their drubbing of the Red Warriors, giving up just 16 errors while converting 36 of 87 attack attempts.

FEU head coach Rey Diaz lauded his team’s continued focus as they aim for bigger goals this season.

“Ganito talaga ‘yung makikita mo sa mga players kapag gustong-gusto nila manalo,”
said Diaz, who has led FEU to its best start since Season 74.

“As a coach, gusto talaga namin na may ganitong initiative ‘yung mga players na mag-focus. Marami pa kaming challenge na haharapin this season so, hopefully, tuloy lang ‘yung ganitong laro namin,” the youthful mentor added.

Graduating open hitter Rj Paler topped the Tamaraws with 12 points from eight attacks, two blocks, and two aces. Fourth-year middle blocker JP Bugaoan added 11 markers which included a 10-for-15 clip on attacking.

The Red Warriors, who spiraled into their fourth consecutive loss, had Al-Jhon Abalon tally eight points while Noel Alba and Bryan Bonoan each managed five.

FEU (5-0) will face the Adamson University (3-1) on Sunday, while UE (1-4) take on the De La Salle University (1-4) on Saturday. Both matches will be at the FilOil Flying V Centre.
