Rival coaches agree: Ramil de Jesus should coach National Team

Though their rivalries are fierce on the court and through recruitment, most UAAP coaches and officials agree that De La Salle University Lady Spikers mentor Ramil De Jesus is the most deserving to oversee the Philippine Women’s National Volleyball Team program.

While most coaches requested to speak to Tiebreaker Times and maintain anonymity to avoid too much controversy, they confidently proclaimed De Jesus as the most capable to run the national team program.

“I’d be very happy if Ramil accepts the position,” said a school official from La Salle’s fiercest UAAP arch-rival, pointing out De Jesus’ extensive winning record in every league he coaches in.

“He’s a winner in the UAAP, PSL, Shakey’s. I don’t see anyone better to lead the squad.”

De Jesus coached the Nationals to a bronze medal in 2005.

The 10-time UAAP champion mentor was supposed to be the head coach of the “Amihan” national team squad formed in 2014, until the Philippine Volleyball Federation was replaced by the Larong Volleyball sa Pilipinas, Inc. as the National Sports Association.

“Malaki na respeto ng mga player kay Ramil. Kahit ‘yung mga hindi La Salista, mataas ang respeto sa kanya kasi lahat talaga kino-coach niya,” added another current head coach of UAAP team.

“Siguro may hesitation sa kanya kasi nga last time na siya ‘yung dapat head coach, nabuwag,” chimed the mentor of a Final Four contender.

“Pero, walang magrereklamo talaga kapag siya humawak. Kahit fan o player, masaya kung siya ang kukuha.”

The LVPI is set to reveal the new head coach of the women’s team in the following days.
