Despite not playing a single game this year, Ricci Rivero (@_ricciiirivero) and CJ Cansino (@cjcansino) were still the two most talked about sports accounts on social media platform Twitter.
The duo, who will form University of the Philippines’ backcourt in UAAP Season 84, were one and two in the top five list — being more tweeted than the accounts of NBA finalists Los Angeles Lakers (@Lakers) and Miami Heat (@MiamiHEAT). The Golden State Warriors (@warriors) went in at five.
The year 2020 saw Rivero become a crossover superstar, earning a hosting gig with TV5’s Sunday Noontime Live.
Cansino, on the other hand, had a turbulent off-season that saw him kicked out of University of Santo Tomas before transferring to University of the Philippines.
Both Rivero and Cansino are under Virtual Playground.
Last August 20, Rivero tweeted Cansino to join UP.
yknow what’s UP @cjcansino

A day later, Rivero welcomed Cansino.
See you bro @cjcansino 🤘🏻

“Who doesn’t want CJ Cansino ‘di ba? So ang gagawin ko na lang is ipa-feel sa kanya na welcome talaga siya, and ma-share sa kanya ‘yung mga puwede niya ma-consider na do’s and don’ts sa UP just to give him an idea lang din. Happy ako kasi alam ko na nasa good hands siya and kasama niya na ngayon ‘yung buong UP community sa next journey niya,” Rivero told Tiebreaker Times about Cansino’s transfer.
“For sure, hindi mawawala ‘yung pagmamahal niya sa UST, same as mine with La Salle. Pero ang akin lang is lahat kami nakasuporta sa kanya sa pagpasok sa UP and sa team.”
