NorthPort guard Fran Yu found himself at the center of an altercation in Barangay 350, Sta. Cruz, Manila, on Tuesday afternoon, after a disagreement over a parking violation allegedly turned physical.
According to a report by ABS-CBN News, the conflict started when a barangay watchman approached Yu about his motorcycle, which he had parked in a restricted area.
Barangay Chairman Efleda dela Cruz said she had instructed the watchman to find the motorcycle’s owner and inform them that parking there was prohibited.
CCTV footage showed Yu and the watchman in a conversation outside a fast-food chain before the latter suddenly “fell” into a gutter.
It was alleged that Yu pushed the watchman, but the NorthPort player denied the accusation.
“Nagka-taasan ng boses, tapos nahulog yung sumita sa aking tanod sa gutter, kasi may gutter doon eh. Nakita nung kagawad, tinulak ko raw. Eh bakit ko naman itutulak yun? Lagi akong nagpa-park sa spot na yun, tapos ngayon lang may sumita sa akin,” Yu said in an interview with ABS-CBN News.
Shortly after, more barangay personnel arrived, including kagawad Victorino Farrales. A heated exchange ensued, and reports claim that Farrales later suffered facial injuries.
However, Yu insisted that he did not start the altercation, adding that Farrales was not even involved in the initial discussion.
The incident is currently under investigation by local authorities.
