Renaldo Balkman made up for Alab Pilipinas’ heartbreak a few months ago by lifting Mighty Sports-Go For Gold Philippines to another Wiliam Jones Cup.
For his all-around play, the Puerto Rican import was named as the Most Valuable Player of the tournament, Sunday evening.
Balkman celebrated his 34th birthday in the midst of the tournament. He averaged 19.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.3 assists, 1.9 blocks, and 1.1 steals in seven games played.
The 6-foot-8 big man – who was also the 2017-18 ABL Defensive Player of the Player – missed Mighty Sports’ last game. He broke his nose during their game against Taiwan Blue last Saturday.
Joining Balkman in the All-Jones Cup team was Eugene Phelps.
Phelps averaged an equally-impressive line of 19.8 points and 7.9 rebounds in eight games played.
