Rald Ricafort calls for more help as Savi Davison fires 32 points

Time and again, Rald Ricafort has emphasized the need for a balanced offensive attack to give PLDT an edge over any team in the Premier Volleyball League.

But having Savi Davison on the roster is a luxury—a player who can simply fire away and take over when it matters most, as she did on Thursday in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the Filoil Centre in San Juan.

With Farm Fresh pushing the match to a fifth set, the High Speed Hitters turned to their trusted outside spiker.

Aware of her role and PLDT’s need for someone to take charge, Davison delivered. She scored seven points in the deciding frame to lead the High Speed Hitters to a 25-17, 23-25, 27-25, 21-25, 15-10 victory over the Foxies, boosting PLDT’s record to a league-best 5-1.

The Fil-Canadian outside hitter finished with 32 points on 28 attacks, three blocks, and an ace while also contributing defensively with 13 excellent receptions and 12 excellent digs.

“Yun nga, yun nga mismo. ’Yun din naman ’yung ni-ready namin from Japan, training pala na ’yun nga, luxury naman talaga na nandiyan si Savi, pero gusto natin kahit papaano may katulong, eh, isa o dalawa,” said Ricafort.

“Ngayon nga, tinawag na pagkakataon na si Sav ulit yung gumawa, and ready naman siya, so ganon talaga.”

Kianna Dy supported Davison with 19 points on 14 spikes and five blocks, while Majoy Baron and Alleiah Malaluan added nine points each.

Sparkplugs Kiesha Bedonia and Jessey De Leon also contributed seven and six points, respectively.

For Ricafort, having Davison score at will is always a welcome sight. But for the High Speed Hitters to truly thrive, other players need to step up—a balance that has helped keep them at the top so far.

Nothing is set in stone, however, as PLDT still has upcoming matches against Galeries Tower, Choco Mucho, and Nxled.

“So far, andun naman si Kianna. Yun naman yung role niya and yun nga, yung supporting cast nung mga middles tapos ngayon nga si Kiesha yung mas napili. So, basta ganun yung nagiging numbers namin, hindi naman guaranteed pero malaki lagi yung chance namin,” said Ricafort.
