A cloud of uncertainty now floats above the TNT KaTropa, shadowing the status of Jayson Castro.
The veteran point guard left before the start of the fourth quarter of the KaTropa’s 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup match versus NLEX Road Warriors on Friday night due to an apparent injury.
Castro got hurt at the 6:18-mark of the first period following a drive to the hoop.
He did not return to the game, finishing with two rebounds and an assist in five minutes and 42 seconds of play.
With their unquestioned leader out, the Texters absorbed their first loss, 113-126, after winning seven straight.
Coach Bong Ravena admitted that they have yet to learn about the extent of Castro’s injury, but the veteran bench tactician said that it has something to do with his Achilles heel.
“He [was feeling pain] sa Achilles e so he went to the hospital. Titignan pa namin ano result,” he said.
“‘Di pa namin alam so far.”
The 33-year-old floor general has been solid for the KaTropa this conference, with per-game averages of 16.6 points, 5.9 assists, and 4.7 rebounds prior to Friday’s tiff.
