Quarterfinals set for BVR Ilocos Sur leg


Looking to make further strides in 2018, Beach Volleyball Republic successfully kicked off their first leg, Saturday, setting up a heated conclusion at the Ichtus Beach in Magsingal, Ilocos Sur.

BVR founder Bea Tan and Amanda Villanuva topped Group C with wins over PLDT and FEU.

Ilonggas DM Demontano and Jackie Estoquia also got off to a 2-0 start, earning the number one ranking in Group A after Day 1.

Air Force veterans Judy Caballejo and Coyah Abanto leapt to the top spot in Group B, while UST’s Genesa Eslapor and Babylove Barbo grabbed the top seed in Group D.

The quarterfinals will kick off with Demontano and Estoquia taking on BVR founders Charo Soriano and Dzi Gervacio. Caballejo and Abanto will face PLDT’s Louann Latigay and Maru Banaticla. Tan and Villanueva will take on Cebu’s Danika Gendrauli and Rap Aguilar. Eslapor and Barbo will round out the quarterfinals against Army’s Nene Bautista and Jem Gutierrez.

In Men’s play, Brian Norberg and Giovanni Musillo of Hong Kong dominated Group D, along with former UST Tigers Henry Pecaña and KR Guzman, who owned Group C.

Cebuanos Jade Becaldo and Fort Libres amassed a perfect 2-0 record in Group B, while Air Force’s Jessie Lopez and Ranran Abdilla stayed perfect in Group A.

Winners will be crowned later today, with the champions taking home PHP 50,000. The second and third placers garner PHP 30,000 and PHP 20,000, respectively.
