PVL: Rondina shows no indoor rust as Choco Mucho makes quick work of Farm Fresh

Sisi Rondina sizzled in her debut, leading Choco Mucho to a dominant 25-14, 25-7, 25-16 win over Farm Fresh in the 2023 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference at the Filoil EcoOil Centre in San Juan on Thursday.

Rondina scored a game-high 14 points with a 13-of-27 spike efficiency, along with a block and five excellent receptions.

The Flying Titans joined F2 Logistics and Cignal as early leaders in Pool B with 1-0 records, while dropping the Foxies to 0-2.

“It’s a good game for our team because we saw our plans come to fruition, especially in our service-receive. Our percentage increased, and it dictated the tempo for us in every set,” said Choco Mucho head coach Dante Alinsunurin.

After dominating the first set, Choco Mucho showed no mercy in the second frame, scoring 13 unanswered points and cruising to another blowout, 25-7.

The Flying Titans’ onslaught continued in the third period, building a 14-5 advantage with contributions from everyone to finish off the Foxies in straight sets.

Caitlin Viray added 13 points to Choco Mucho’s cause, while Deanna Wong contributed eight points with five service aces, two blocks, and an attack, along with eight excellent sets.

Cherry Nunag and Desiree Cheng also chipped in six points apiece for the Flying Titans.

Trisha Tubu paced the Foxies with seven points, while Zamantha Nolasco and Kate Santiago added four points each.

Up next for Choco Mucho is Foton on Saturday at 4 p.m. at the same venue. Meanwhile, Farm Fresh will return on July 11 against Petro Gazz, at 9:30 a.m., at the Philsports Arena.
