PVL: PLDT outlasts F2 Logistics, takes fifth place

PLDT salvaged a fifth place finish following a five-set 25-21, 21-25, 25-17, 28-30, 15-8 win over F2 Logistics in the 5th-6th classification phase of the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference at the FilOil Flying V Centre, Tuesday night.

Fiola Ceballos was all over the place, finishing with 18 points along with 26 excellent digs and seven excellent receptions while Chin Basas also added 18 markers.

The High Speed Hitters were able to build a comfortable six-point cushion in the fifth frame, 13-7, all thanks to an ace from Rhea Dimaculangan.

Kianna Dy placed PLDT at match point off an attack error but managed to score in the next play to keep the Cargo Movers alive.

Another attack error from Dy ended the match.

“Satisfied naman kasi from one and a half month kami nag training at least nakita na namin yung potential ng team namin,” said head coach George Pascua after the win.

Jovie Prado, who only played three sets, chipped in 11 points while Jules Samonte and Mika Reyes added 10 and nine points, respectively.

Rhea Dimaculangan tossed 38 excellent sets along with four points while Kath Arado collected 29 excellent digs and 20 excellent receptions.

On the other hand, Majoy Baron led the Cargo Movers with 13 points on seven attacks, five blocks, and an ace while Kianna Dy added 12 points.

Kim Fajardo scattered 26 excellent sets, 13 excellent digs, and a point while Dawn Macandili had 25 excellent digs and 17 excellent receptions.

F2 Logistics settled for the sixth spot in its first foray in the PVL.
