PVL: Lacsina tows Nxled to first win, cuts Galeries to size

Nxled secured its first victory of the tournament after sweeping Galeries Tower, 25-21, 25-18, 25-15, to snap its three-game losing skid in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference, Tuesday at the Philsports Arena.

The Chameleons had a rough start to the conference, losing their first three matches against Choco Mucho, PLDT, and Cignal all via sweep before breaking the skid against the Highrisers.

Ivy Lacsina had her best outing so far for Nxled, scoring a game-high 17 points on 17 attacks to go along with 11 excellent digs to help her side join Akari and Capital1 at the eighth spot with identical 1-3 records.

“I don’t think we assumed a hundred percent that we would win against Galeries (Tower). For sure, we needed to work hard, and we had to focus one-hundred percent on this game because only Galeries and Nxled couldn’t get any set,” said Chameleons head coach Taka Minowa.

“With this win, hopefully, our players will regain confidence and believe in the process to improve our game,” added the Japanese tactician.

Lycha Ebon backstopped Lacsina with 15 markers on 11 attacks, three blocks, and one ace while Camille Victoria also finished in double figures with 10 points in an hour and 32 minutes of play.

After a tight encounter in the first set, Nxled seemed to have found its groove in the second and third sets wherein they dominated the Highrisers behind the efforts of Lacsina, Ebon, and Victoria.

The Chameleons will face off against sister squad Akari on Saturday, 6:00 p.m. at the Santa Rosa Sports Complex.

On the other hand, Galeries dropped to dead last along with Strong Group through identical 0-4 slates.

Ysa Jimenez paced the Highrisers with eight points while Roma Joy Doromal added seven markers and 12 excellent digs.

Galeries aims to end its skid against fellow winless squad Capital1 also on Saturday, 4:00 p.m.
