PVL: Davison ignites PLDT’s rebound, secures sweep vs Capital1

PLDT sent Capital1 crashing down, scoring a lopsided 25-13, 25-15, 25-16 sweep for a bounce back victory in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference, Saturday at the Filoil EcoOil Centre.

Savannah Davison took charge for the High Speed Hitters, who were coming off a straight sets loss to Petro Gazz last Saturday, with 22 points on 19 attacks, two blocks, and an ace to go along with nine excellent digs in just an hour and 16 minutes of play.

“Yun naman yung lesson, na kailangan naming i-recover agad. Itong win ngayon yung result nung cinorrect namin nung last game,” said PLDT head coach Rald Ricafort.

The High Speed Hitters opened the game with a dominant outing in the first set, which set the tempo for the rest of the game and allowed them to dismantle the motivated Solar Spikers, who just secured their first franchise win last Tuesday.

“Happy with the win, happy na naka-contribute ulit yung mga role players namin,” said Ricafort.

“Siguro skill-wise, hindi masyado yung sa adjustment pero yung maging mas consistent saka yun nga, ‘di kasi napa-practice yung pressure eh. So binabanggit ko sa kanila na pati yun kailangan dalhin sa training para naha-handle nang maayos sa game,” he added.

PLDT put up a 20-point advantage in the attacking department after converting 47 attempts against Capital1’s 27. The High Speed Hitters rounded it out with an 8-1 lead in blocks and a 5-1 edge in services.

Ceballos added 10 markers in the victory which elevated PLDT’s standing to 3-1 while Erika Santos and Dell Palomata added six and five points, respectively.

The High Speed Hitters will take a one-week break before returning to action against Choco Mucho on March 19, Tuesday, at 6:00 p.m. at the same venue.

Sydney Niegos and Heather Guino-o led the Solar Spikers, who dropped to 1-3, with six points apiece.

On the other hand, Capital1 will face Galeries Tower on Saturday, 4:00 p.m. at the Santa Rosa Sports Complex in Laguna.
