PVL: Chery Tiggo bounces back in biggest of ways, slays Creamline streak

SANTA ROSA — Coming off a two-game losing skid, Chery Tiggo bounced back in the biggest of ways against defending champion Creamline.

The Crossovers snapped the Cool Smashers’ 19-game winning streak and handed them their first sweep after almost five years, 25-18, 26-24, 25-23, for their third win in the 2024 Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Santa Rosa Sports Complex here.

Creamline last lost via sweep on May 26, 2019.

Back then, they bowed to Petro Gazz in straight sets, 25-22, 26-24, 25-22, in the Reinforced Conference elimination round.

Chery Tiggo started the conference hot, scoring two consecutive sweeps over newcomers Capital1 and Strong Group. They then dropped their next two matches against Choco Mucho and Farm Fresh.

The win versus the reigning All-Filipino Conference champs elevated the Crossovers’ standing to 3-2.

On the other hand, the Cool Smashers slid to 4-1 tied with Petro Gazz at the second and third spots.

Chery Tiggo looks to sustain its momentum against the streaking Angels on Thursday at 6:00 PM at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Meanwhile, Creamline aims to bounce back versus Capital1 earlier that day at 4:00 PM.
