PVL: Bea De Leon delivers vs Gerflor as Choco Mucho extends streak to 9

Choco Mucho remained the hottest team in the league, dominating Gerflor, 25-16, 25-17, 25-11, to extend its winning run to nine games in the Premier Volleyball League Second All-Filipino Conference, Tuesday at the Philsports Arena.

The Flying Titans wasted no time in dispatching the hapless Defenders with head coach Dante Alinsunurin shuffling his rotation and inserting the likes of Bea De Leon and Denden Lazaro-Revilla, who both contributed to help their side move to 9-1 in the standings.

“Siguro ano lang, ang sabi ko sa players ko lang laging ready and continue lang yung ginagawa namin. Kahit sinong kalaban, dapat laging prepared,” said Alinsunurin after the match.

“Yun nga, medyo maganda yung naging performance namin kahit sinong ipasok nagdedeliver, including si Bea (De Leon), nag player of the game pa. Yun naman ang importante sa team namin, kahit sinong hugutin mo or ipasok mo magde-deliver,” he added.

After breezing past the first two sets, the Flying Titans zoomed to a 22-8 advantage, with Sisi Rondina contributing three points in a 6-0 run that transformed a 16-8 lead to a 14-point edge that eventually sealed the win.

Sisi Rondina once again top-scored for Choco Mucho with 17 points on 14 attacks, two aces, and one ace to go along with nine excellent digs and seven excellent receptions.

De Leon, who hardly saw playing time in the Rebisco-backed squad’s previous matches, finished with 13 points on 6 attacks, five kill blocks, and two aces while Lazaro-Revilla recorded seven excellent digs and seven excellent receptions.

Key cogs Maddie Madayag, Cherry Nunag, and Thang Ponce all sat out the match.

The Flying Titans dominated on all fronts, notching 10 blocks against the Defenders’ one while also holding a 7-2 advantage in service aces.

Meanwhile, no player breached double digits in scoring for the 0-9 Gerflor, with Shang Berte leading the way with eight points. Menchie Tubiera and Danika Gendrauli each added seven markers.

Choco Mucho will face off against Chery Tiggo on Saturday, 6:00 p.m. in Iloilo while Gerflor will take on Cignal on Tuesday, 2:00 p.m. at the same Pasig venue.
