PVL: Army-Black Mamba climbs classification ladder, ends BaliPure’s campaign

Army-Black Mamba made swift work of BaliPure in a game that only lasted for 84 minutes, taking a 25-22, 25-21, 27-25 sweep in the 2022 Premier Volleyball League Open Conference’s classification phase, Friday at the Filoil Flying V Centre.

The Lady Troopers, who ended their pool phase campaign winless, will next face Chery Tiggo in the battle for seventh game on Sunday at 11:00 AM.

Kungfu Reyes’ team needed to dig deep in the final set to take this one, though.

With the game knotted at 24-all, Honey Royse Tubino took charge with the game-clinching hit to seal their first win of the tournament.

Tubino wound up with 24 points and 16 excellent receptions.

Joanne Bunag got 12 points. Ivy Perez also had 12 points to go along with 18 excellent sets.

The Purest Water Defenders ended their campaign in ninth place.

Janine Marciano led the way for BaliPure with 15 points and eight excellent receptions. Meanwhile, Gen Casugod added 12 points – half of which came from kill blocks.
