PSL, TV5 promise to bring wider coverage of games

After months of build-up, the Philippine SuperLiga will open its All-Filipino Conference on Saturday, June 18 at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.

In a drastic change compared to season’s past, the league will host eight teams namely, the 2016 PSL Invitational Cup champions RC Cola-Army Lady Troopers, the defending All-Filipino conference champions Petron Tri-activ Spikers, the country’s representatives to the AVC Women’s Club Championship Foton Toplander, the Cignal HD Spikers, the F2 Logistics Cargo Movers, the Standard Insurance-Navy Corvettes, returning Generika Lifesavers, and school-based team Amy’s Kitchen-UPHSD Lady Altas.

“I’d like to thank the teams and team owners. With these companies, we are assured that we have some of the biggest and most reputable companies that will add more credibility to our league,” PSL Chairman Philip Juico said in the conference’s press conference Wednesday afternoon at the Centerstage KTV in Pasay City. “We are happy and over the years we have introduced many changes to create more entertainment value for our stakeholders and the fans.”

Over the past three years, the league has overcome so many obstacles and challenges according to Juico. He commended the partnerships that the league had made as they continue their unwavering support for the PSL. No one was more excited than PSL’s broadcasting partner TV5.

“I speak not only on behalf of TV5 but also on behalf of the Philippine Superliga when I say how excited I am. I’m excited for the All-Filipino Conference as we already had two conferences this year, the Invitational and Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup, Sports5’s Vice President Vitto Lazatin shared.

To increase the presence of the league, Sports5 will air all the games across all its platforms. All games shall be aired on either TV5, Aksyon TV, Sports5.ph, and in high-definition on Hyper.

“Those had been great and successful. These two conferences had been building up to this. The All-Filipino Conference is really where the season starts,” Lazatin furthered. “I’m looking forward to this conference and it’s great to hear that we have eight competitive teams with some of the best players in the nation.”

“It’s going to be great and we’re very happy with our partnership with the Philippine Superliga. They have done a great job in not just mounting successful tournaments but they clearly have done a great job in elevating the sport of volleyball in the Philippines.”

The 2016 PSL All-Filipino Conference is set to begin on Saturday, June 18 with a lavish opening ceremony at 1:00pm. The Lady Spiker-laden F2 Logistics Cargo Movers is set to face the Cignal HD Spikers at 2:00pm followed by defending champions Petron Tri-activ Spikers taking on the Foton Toplander in the main game.

The Filoil Flying V Centre will host the opening day festivities and, as per PSL tradition, tickets will be free of charge.
