PSL: Fran Yu leads San Juan to eighth straight win

San Juan added Quezon City to the list of its victims in what is fast turning out to be a promising title bid, while Pampanga Royce Hotel and Batang Kankaloo-Caloocan also scored big wins last Saturday in the Manila Bankers Life-Pilipinas Super League Pro Division Second Conference Dumper Cup at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.

Former Letran standout Fran Yu scattered The Kings essayed a 74-66 victory over the Beacons to remain unbeaten.

Yu wound up with 15 points and three rebounds for the wards of coach Randy Alcantara, while Orlan Wamar chipped in 13 markers and four assists.

Michael Calisaan and Nikko Panganiban also had 13 and 12 points, respectively as San Juan scored a fitting follow-up to a 90-83 triumph over Cagayan De Oro-PSP last week and rose to 8-0 in the meet presented by Winzir and co-presented by Skin Care Depot, SCD Cosmetics, and Dumper party-list, and supported by NET 25, Adcon, Wcube Solutions Inc., MDC, Unisol, Don Benitos, and Finn Cotton, with PBA and Gilas Pilipinas great Marc Pingris serving as Commissioner.

Quezon City absorbed its sixth straight loss, counting a numbing 62-63 defeat to Koponang Lakan ng Bulacan last Jan. 18 for a 1-7 slate.

Despite missing reigning MVP Will Gozum and BJ Andrade who are playing for Strong Group in the 32nd Dubai International Championship, Pampanga Royce still proved too much for Manila 83-74.

Jolo Mendoza totaled 19 points, five rebounds, and three dimes for Pampanga, while JB Bahio had 17 and eight.

Zach Huang and Joshua Flores combined for 24 points for Pampanga.
