Potential team up with long-time idol Terrence Romeo excites Kyt Jimenez

Kyt Jimenez is excited about the possibility of teaming up with Terrence Romeo after being selected by San Miguel in the PBA Season 48 Rookie Draft.

The YouTube sensation has been vocal about how much he looks up to the league’s only three-time scoring king, and he can’t wait to start working with him again after spending some time together at Far Eastern University.

“Sobrang saya rin kasi sobrang tagal ko rin hindi nakakasama si Kuya Terrence,” said the former Tamaraws Team B member shortly after the proceedings at Ayala Malls Market! Market! in Taguig on Sunday evening.

“Nagkakausap lang kami, pero ngayon, magkakasama ulit kami sa ensayo,” added the 26-year-old from Pagsanjan.

Jimenez was the 76th overall pick by the Beermen in the Rookie Draft, the third-to-last selection of the proceedings that saw 79 talents get drafted.

He did not expect to be picked by the league’s winningest club, let alone be drafted.

“Kanina, naiiyak na lang ako na natawag pa ‘yung pangalan ko kahit bandang huli na,” he said.

“Will ni Lord ‘yun. Nagpapasalamat ako kay Lord.”

What left the MPBL standout even more overwhelmed was the adoration he received from the fans who watched the Rookie Draft live. Jimenez received easily the loudest cheer from the crowd when his name was called.

“Hindi ko in-expect na [kahit sa] pinakamataas na liga sa PBA, nandiyan pa rin ‘yung mga tao na sumusuporta sa’kin,” he said.

“Ma-pick man ako o hindi, pero grabe ‘yung suporta nilang binibigay sa’kin.”

Now, it will be all about proving himself worthy of being picked, with the hope, of course, of earning a contract and a spot in a loaded SMB roster.

“Sobrang laking opportunity sa akin kasi marami pa akong matututunan kay Kuya Romeo at sa mga beteranong players ng San Miguel,” Jimenez said.
