PLDT taps Army’s Royse Tubino as SGL player

Coming off an impressive conference that saw them make it to the semifinals, PLDT has added more firepower to try to get over the hump by signing veteran outside spiker Royse Tubino for the 2023 Premier Volleyball League Invitational Conference.

Tubino has spent the past four years with the Philippine Army in the PVL.

The NCAA Season 89 MVP led the Lady Troopers in scoring during the last All-Filipino Conference, but the team struggled without main hitter Jovelyn Gonzaga, who chose to focus on her preparation for the 32nd Southeast Asian Games beach volleyball event.

In the end, Army finished winless for the second consecutive season and dropped 21 consecutive games since last year.

Tubino will be the second ‘special guest player’ of PLDT after Air Force’s Dell Palomata.

With the High Speed Hitters, Tubino will join wing spikers Michelle Morente, Mean Mendrez, Erika Santos, Jovie Prado, Jules Samonte, and Fiola Ceballos.

PLDT recently announced the departure of outside hitter Ysa Jimenez and veteran playmaker Wendy Semana.
